I’m working on a new song. Well, it’s mainly just a bassline right now. I laid it down in the multitrack while ago so I can begin putting a more thought out idea together. I had an idea for a guitar part that just when work out like I thought it would. Once I get a little something worked out with it I’ll load a mp3 up on the site so you can hear it.

I’ve finally got the “Bleed for Me” Reaper project up. For those that don’t know, “Bleed for me” is a Black Label Society song and the Reaper project is my cover of the song. It’s a 307MB download but it extracts to about 940MB. It’s a large project but it includes all the wav files I used and everything is seperately tracked out. I hope you enjoy it.

I’ve decided to upload the wav file version of my project tomorrow. Pipeline Audio suggested that I try ogg instead of mp3 to get the size down. I will be taking his advise and trying the ogg format and if it works well I will upload that version as well.

I have been working all night on creating a Reaper project for everybody that uses the Reaper software. In creating the project folder for a Black Label Society song,I ran into a couple of problems I didn’t think about. The project size grew to about 1.4GB which is way to large. By rendering the files from 24bit wavs to 16bit wavs I was able to get the project size down to 995MB. That’s still too large in my opinion. I then got a great idea, I would compromise some quality and render all the wavs to 320kbps mp3’s. After I rendered all files and checked the project size I was happy with the 222MB size. I then loaded all the mp3 files up in Reaper and then pressed play. Much to my dismay, there were so many dropouts during playback that the project was useless. My best guess as to the reason for this is that Reaper might convert mp3’s to wav on the fly for playback which would each up memory and cpu processing power. The particular song I’m working on is “Bleed for Me”, which is over 5 minutes long and has nineteen tracks. I will be working on a solution to all these problems so I can get a project file up for all of you to play with. Not now though, it’s 3 in the morning and I’m fucking tired.

I’ve decided to move the old site over to this one so that I can easily update everything. I haven’t finished transferring everything over yet but it’s getting close. I will try to post here more often than I have in the past with the old site. Don’t forget to sign my guestbook.
