My Proview LCD monitor is stuck with a white screen but the computer is still working. I’ve had some problems with Proview before. My first Proview LCD lasted less than a year. The one I have now was a replacement for the first one. I’ve had this monitor less than 6 months. This must be some of the worst LCD computer monitors available. Anyways I think I know what the problem is and it’s not an uncommon one with this brand. It seems that the way it is designed there isn’t anyway to get most of the heat out of the monitor casing which in turn dries out the capacitors on the internal power supply board. I will be pulling the monitor apart and soldering in some new capacitors. Stay tuned for more on this story as it develops.

Yesterday I went to Radio Shack and bought 2 of the 470uf capacitors. They didn’t have any of the other ones. As a side note I was told that there were 6 470uf capacitors when on my board there are only 2. The 4 680uf...

How did you get the monitor apart? I’ve removed all visible screws and I can separate the bottom of the front bezel by literally breaking the tabs that hold it onto the monitor body but can’t even separate it from the top portion. Any ideas about how to go about this?
It’s been years since I did this so I can’t remember exactly. I think I took a small screwdriver and pried the tabs loose. I can’t say for sure though, sorry.
